Figure 3.33 Scenarios

Figure 3.33a is a description of what happens assuming that everything is ok. This is one scenario (a particular sequence of actions and interactions) for the use case 'set airfield altitude'. The scenario, identified as 'data within valid range', has a single finish point. But what of the situation where the data entered is not within the pre-defined range? The interactions that take place in these circumstances are shown in figure 3.33b. Here, if the data is invalid it is rejected and a request made for new data. This is a second, valid sequence of interactions for the use case, a second scenario.

We can simplify our paperwork by combining scenarios as shown in figure 3.34a.
